Delete an Electronic Seal Document

The Yousign API lets you permanently delete a Document attached to an Electronic Seal. This is useful when you need to remove sensitive content from the platform while keeping the associated Audit Trail and metadata intact for compliance purposes.

This operation is irreversible. Once deleted, the document cannot be restored. Download and archive any document you wish to keep before calling this endpoint.

Deletion is only possible when the Electronic Seal has reached a terminal status (done or error). Attempting to delete a document while the seal is still in progress will return an error. Deletion is available for Simple and Advanced Electronic Seals. Qualified Electronic Seals are excluded.

Electronic Seal images uploaded separately via the image upload endpoint are not affected by this deletion and can still be reused on future seals.

Understand API key scope

Any API key linked to your Organisation Account can delete any Electronic Seal Document belonging to that organisation, not only documents created with that specific key. Restrict access to this endpoint carefully.

Access and availability

This feature is not enabled by default. A Yousign sales representative must activate the feature configuration on your account, and your organisation must sign an acknowledgment confirming legal responsibility for the deletion. The feature is available in both production and sandbox environments under the same rules.
