Manage the recipients flow

Learn how to set up who needs to do what, and in which order, in your Signature Request.

With Yousign, a recipient is either a Signer, an Approver. Each recipient must take an action (sign or approve) through a secure interface, following rules you define when creating the Signature Request.

When you manage the recipients flow, you’re basically choosing:

  • Who needs to act (Signers, Approvers)
  • In which order they act (all at once or sequentially)
  • How they receive the link to access the signature interface

How recipients access the signature interface

When you use Yousign’s hosted signature interface, recipients access it through a secure link.

You can choose between two ways to share the link:

  • Link delivery managed by Yousign (email)

Yousign automatically sends emails when it is a recipient’s turn to act. This is the simplest, most turnkey option.

  • Link delivery managed by you

You get the signature link via the API, then share it in your own way (email, in‑app message, embedded iFrame, etc.).

This gives you more control over the user experience.

Ordering recipients

You can decide whether Signers and Approvers act:

  • Simultaneously (default): all Signers or Approvers can act once the Signature Request is activated.
  • Sequentially: recipients act in a specific order that you define. The next person can only act once the previous one has finished.

Ordering impacts when links become available and who is responsible for enforcing the sequence, especially when you manage link delivery yourself.
