What is a Verification ?

Verifying a business or an individual can take multiple forms. Yousign performs various operations to ensure minimal risk and give you a full control over the verification decision.

• Data Extraction - Extract relevant data from a document so that you can perform additional checks or fill data in your system.
• Consistency Check- Compare data provided as input with data extracted from a document or collected from an external source (ie : company registry)
• Integrity Check - Check that the document has not been altered or tampered with and seems authentic
• Data Validation - Connect to external reliable sources to collect and verify data (ie : public registries, banking network etc...).

How to use our verification endpoints ?

All of our endpoints follow some common principles that can help you better understand and quickly integrate our verification services :

1. Initiate your Verification via API. In some cases, provide the input we need to proceed to the Verification (ex: document file, name to check, etc...).
2. We then proceed to the Verification. Depending on the Verification type we perform one or multiple operations.
3. Once required operations have been performed the status of the Verification is updated from pending to a new status. Across our Verifications you’ll find the following statuses :
   • done, verified- We've performed the necessary operations and did not raise a reason for concern.
   • failed - We've found reasons to raise concern. This could be linked to an issue in performing one or more operations (blurry document, no image detected) or an inconsistency in our different verification layers (inconsistent first_name,last_name, fraudulent document detected etc ...).
   • inconclusive - We failed to perform the necessary operations (inconsistent data, no file detected etc ...). Additionally, we provide status codes, to help you better understand the result of the status and take a decision on the next step : retrying or flagging the the verification as needing attention for instance.
4. You receive the resulting status, status codes and operation results via dedicated webhooks.
5. Finally, while statuses and status codes will always remain available, each Verification follows a dedicated retention period and sensitive data will be anonymized accordingly and will no longer be accessible at the end of this period. How do we ensure compliance and minimize risk after the verification ?

To ensure data minimization, documents are only stored on Yousign temporarily and are deleted in our provider’s databases after processing, ensuring you that sensitive documents are not stored longer that what they need to.

Combining multiple verification products

When onboarding a company or a future customer, you often need to run multiple verifications. To give you the right amount of flexibility Yousign offers two ways to combine multiple verifications.

• Full customization on the orchestration and monitoring. You can call each of our verification services and develop your own monitoring dashboard and orchestration or integrate it directly in your existing application.
