Watchlist verification

On this page, you will learn how to verify a natural person’s presence on the sanctions and Politically Exposed Person (PEP) lists through the API.

The Watchlist Verification service enables you to assess whether a natural person is:

  • Listed on international or national sanctions lists (e.g. the French “Gel des avoirs” asset freeze list).
  • Identified as a Politically Exposed Person (PEP).

How it works

The verification process is straightforward and consists of the following steps:

  1. Submit the person’s first name, last name, and date of birth via the API.
  2. Receive the verification results after the identity is screened against relevant databases. Results are returned either via webhook or through a dedicated endpoint.

What is checked

The verification process relies on 280 regularly updated databases that aggregate data from official government and international sources. During the process, the submitted identity is screened against:

  • Sanctions lists maintained by global authorities such as OFAC, the French “Gel des avoirs” list, and others.
  • PEP lists, including current and former political figures.

Each match is analyzed based on name and date of birth similarity, depending on the availability of the data. When a match is found, details about the individual’s sanctions status or political exposure are returned to support your compliance decisions.
